Reading Rangers

Laying a firm foundation for pre-readers in a fun, intentional way.

In 2016, Amanda Wilson and Kristen DiCristina, two former teachers, created Reading Rangers as an after school phonics class to enrich children's early reading skills in a fun and creative way. Reading Rangers is a program that utilizes phonics instruction, emphasizing visual, auditory, and kinesthetic (tactile) learning styles as a way to lay a solid foundation for early readers. Our time together is spent playing games and other activities centered on: letter recognition and letter sounds (sound / symbol relationship), rhyming words, and an introduction to basic CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) word families. (bat, cat, sat etc.) In the Spring classes, we practice isolating beginning, middle and ending sounds in order to blend these sounds to read! Reading Rangers offers after school classes for Pre-K and 5/6 Program Students in the Fall, Winter, and Spring and Summer Camps for Rising Pre-K, Rising Kindergarten, and Rising 5/6 Program students. Please see the registration tab for information on our classes and camps.
